Cuisine: A blend, including Swiss, Japanese and Italian.

Ambience: Reflexion doesn't quite feel like a restaurant, because it's on the 12th floor of Sogo amid shops selling wedding dresses and the like. The shopping atmosphere spills into the restaurant - which is fine if you're shopping and stopping for a meal. But for those who are just there to eat, it can be a bit off-putting.

Price: A reasonable $250 each for a decent meal, glass of wine and 10 per cent service charge.

Pros: Although it wasn't a memorable dining experience, the food was enjoyable.

Cons: Several of the items on the menu weren't available - which we wouldn't have minded, except that they were the ones we were about to order. The blueberry cheesecake ($23) tasted and looked much like a Sara Lee.

Recommended dishes: We thoroughly enjoyed the tomato puree soup ($48), although the servings could have been bigger. In contrast was the generous serving of linguine marinara ($78), which was delightful. The miso salmon with angel hair pasta and caviar ($98, right) had a good blend of textures, although it could have done with some seasoning or herb accompaniment. The chocolate fondue ($68) was a welcome sight on the dessert menu, which offered 'generous slices' of various cakes. The fondue was a winner, but the accompaniments were disappointing. More strawberries would have been good.

What else? The menu features a healthy 'ladies' summer snack' page, and there's a set dinner menu for those who prefer a table d'hote approach.
